FINAL COUNCIL BUDGET HEARING TONIGHT
As you know, the MCPS budget has been very tight the last few years. Fallsmead has felt the pinch quite a bit. Last year we lost 4 teacher positions and each of our specialists are only at our school 4 days per week. Our Speech Teacher's hours were also cut. This coming  year we lost 2 positions (general and special education) and several paraeducator hours. These cuts, sorely affect each student by creating larger class sizes, less support for each student and reduced specialists' time. Cuts this year may also impact our materials and text book funds, computer assignment to our second grades,  as well as, media books and technology.

We have been asked to appeal to the County Council members and to thank Mr. Leggett for his support. You should have received an email from your room parent with instructions on how to contact Mr. Leggett and your council member.  Another way our community can support this effort is to attend one of the Operating Budget Hearings at the Montgomery County Council. The last meeting is taking place tonight, Thursday, April 7th. If you can attend the meeting this evening, it will show our parent support. The hearing starts at 7:00 pmin the auditorium of the Council Office Building.
