The First Annual FallsmeadVariety Show is coming up next week on Thursday, January 19th at 5:30pm. The kids have been working hard on their acts so please come out to show your support! You can still purchase tickets ahead of time to guarantee your spot. Click here for more details, and submit your form/payment for advance tickets to your teacher by Tuesday, January 17th. Questions? NEXT PTA FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
Just keep swimming! Mark your calendars for our next PTA Family Movie Night on Friday, February 3 at 6:30pm to watch "Finding Dory."  Bring your pjs, sleeping bags, and blankets to cozy up at our first movie night of 2017. Pizza, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase at this free family event. Email movienight@fallsmeadpta.org for more info. 

SCIENCE FAIR COMING SOON!
Calling all scientists! The Fallsmead Science Fair will take place on Friday, February 10th from 6-8pmStudents in all grades (K-5) are able to participate. FIFTH GRADE CELEBRATION PLANNING MEETING
Attention 5th Grade Parents!  The next 5th Grade Celebration planning meeting will be next Tuesday, January 17th at 7pm in the Media Center.  There is a lot to be done but, with 91 graduating families, we are hoping to get a lot of parent volunteers, each of whom will then only have a small job to complete. One of our big jobs for Tuesday is to decide on a theme for the Celebration, so please come to share your thoughts and ideas. Please contact Silvia Abularach or Maryanne Waller with any questions or ideas.  We look forward to seeing you on the 17th!

PARENT MATH NIGHT
Save the date for Fallsmead's first ever Math Night on February 21st from 7-8:15pmParents are invited to participate in teacher led mini-workshops focused on better understanding your child's math curriculum. Each grade level will be holding their own workshops. Keep an eye out for more information from your teachers in the coming weeks!

WOOTTON CLUSTER BOARD OF ED MEETING AND BUDGET FEEDBACK
Please plan on coming to the
Wootton Cluster meeting with the Board of Education on February 23rd from 7-9pm at Wootton High School (refreshments at 6:30pm). This small round-table event is your chance to make your voice heard on education issues important to the cluster, including the budget proposal to eliminate all but 10 Reading Initiative Program positions in MCPS. RSVPs will be required. . .more info to follow!

Smith's recommended operating budget for fiscal year 2018. The Comments section at the bottom is a great place to offer your feedback on the changes to the Reading Initiative Program, class sizes, and any other issues you think are important in MCPS!
